Planting a Million Smiles

Together with local grocery stores, we collect unsellable avocados, rescue the seeds, recycle cardboard and plastic packaging, and compost food waste. Then we grow the seeds into young avocado trees for children in our community to adopt, care for, and learn from — one tree, one smile, one greener future at a time.

Where It Began

It started with Emelie’s curiosity about how a tiny seed could become a living tree.

From One Seed to Something Bigger

Emelie’s curiosity began with something simple: seeing what could grow from a tree seed. Collecting seeds, planting them, and watching them grow became a family experiment. Soon, seeds that would otherwise be discarded were being rescued from local businesses and grown into young trees. Those trees created an opportunity for children to adopt something living, care for it, and learn from the experience. As schools, families, businesses, and community partners became involved, one small idea grew into Planting a Million Smiles.

How We Do It

We rescue unsellable avocados, collect the seeds, recycle packaging, and compost food waste.

Step 2 — Grow

We grow the seeds into young trees, add tracking as they move through the program, prepare them, and deliver them for adoption.

Step 3 — Give

Children adopt a tree, care for nature, practice sustainability, and share the story.
